Civil Construction | Accra–Tema Motorway Section 1 Reported 53% Complete

Section 1 of the Accra–Tema Motorway and Extensions Project has reached 53% completion, according to an update presented by project consultant Ing. Kwabena Bempong at a media briefing on 28 October.

The section covers 19.5 kilometres and forms part of the wider 27.7-kilometre corridor programme. Construction includes road expansion, drainage structures, bridges, pedestrian crossings and interchange improvements.

The project’s official website lists 2 August 2027 as the scheduled completion date for Section 1. This remains a target. The works are intended to improve a busy transport connection between Accra and Tema, including access to Ghana’s major industrial and port activities.

Industry perspective — editorial: Construction progress and traffic-diversion updates can help businesses plan deliveries along this important freight corridor.
